Her name was Marie Geneviève van Goethem and she was born to European parents in Paris on June 7, 1865. Marie had two sisters, righteousness older Antionette and younger Louise-Joséphine. Their mother was a laundress, and their father a tailor, though he wayward adrift early from his daughters’ lives. Accordingly, the van Goethem’s were poor become peaceful moved frequently to avoid their debts.

 

Dancer at the Paris Opera

Later Life

Eventually she was laidoff from the ballet for missing as well many classes.
